LESTER SCOTT
Trenton Central High School – National Champion

Lester Scott won the National Interscholastic Indoor 60 YD High Hurdles Championship on February 23, 1946, with a time of 7.7 seconds.  Scott’s victory was 3 in a row for TCHS. His former teammate—the great Dan Ray--won the same event the previous 2 seasons.

Individually, Scott also won both the High and Low Hurdles at the 1947 South Jersey Championships.  He was a 2-time Big Six Conference Champ as well, winning the 120 High Hurdles in 1946, and the 220 Low Hurdles in 1947.

Scott helped lead Trenton’s team to the Group 4 State Championship in the spring of 1945 by scoring runner-up in the high hurdles, and 4th in the low hurdles. His scoring prowess also helped lead TCHS to team titles at the South Jersey Championships and the Big Six Conference Meet for 3 straight years from 1945-47.   He went on to attend Morgan State where he ran varsity track and field.
